On our behalf, we longed for celebrating such an event, even if modest and limited to our group where we were experimenting the richness of our diversity as well on the religious ground than on our multiracial reality, symbolising other possible reconciliation. It was our way to practice what we feel important in AFLF : "we respect and accept spiritual values, from whatever source, which may deepen the understanding and sustain the purpose of a person..." This point 7 of our Basic philosophy found a concrete realisation through this oecumenical celebration. Each country had the opportunity to place the name of his country deep into the very heart of God "...who so loved... the world/South Africa/Mauritius/Nigeria/Sudan/Zimbabwe/etc/etc... that He gave His only begotten Sun..."

Quand « Amour et Vérité se rencontrent, Justice et Paix s’embrassent » (Psaume 85 v.11), alors les barrières tombent entre blancs et noirs, hommes et femmes, catholiques et protestants. Ce fut un signe fort.
When "Love and Truth meet, Justice and Peace embrace« (Psalm 85 v.11) then, barriers between blacks and whites, men and women, catholics and protestants fall down. It was a strong symbol.
It was indeed a most moving and strong event which ended around a thrilling
time of zulu dances.
