First Africa Family Life Federation (A.F.L.F.) Congress

Johannesburg 24-30 April 2004

 

“New strengths for the family: Hope to combat HIV/AIDS”

This first AFLF congress will be held from 24 to 30 April 2004 in Johannesburg, South Africa.  It will comprise three different activities:

 

-  Two conference days

-  Five days of training workshop

-  AFLF General Assembly for members

 

The two Conference days will be held on the 24-25 April and they will consist of scientific lectures and workshops on the following subjects:

 

·         Natural Family Planning: Knowledge, the way a service is operated and the necessary support.

·         Lactation Amenorrhea Method (LAM) and full breastfeeding in the context of youth and HIV/AIDS: knowledge, service and support.

·         The family’s role today; the child and its psycho-affective development in the context of the nuclear family and of the enlarged family: content, social-education supports.

 

      There will be five days of training workshops for member’s association and groups wishing to launch a service for couples and/or a programme for youths.

 

Workshop I:           Young people and HIV/AIDS; The dynamic change in behaviour- Seminar for initial training of trainers.

 

Workshop II:          Young people and HIV/AIDS;

                               The dynamic change in behaviour - Seminar for advanced training of trainers: Evaluation and development of programme.

 

 

Workshop III:        Natural Family Planning –

                              Seminar for initial training of educators.

 

Workshop IV:        Natural Family Planning - 

                              Seminar for advanced training (action evaluation and development programme).

 

Workshop V:         The family and HIV/AIDS;

                              Basic knowledge for action geared towards the family (young people counselling, young couples counselling, family planning, breastfeeding, HIV detection, etc.)
