Africa Family Life Federation

(A.F.L.F.)

 

FIRST: The name of the organisation is Africa Family Life Federation (A.F.L.F.).

SECOND : The organisation is non-political.

THIRD: The period of duration is perpetual.

FOURTH: The organisation is organised exclusively for the following objectives, in accordance with the statement of Basic Principles hereto attached as Appendix A. These include :

            1. To provide leadership, guidance and education in the fields of family life education in general and natural family planning and HIV/AIDS in particular, including:

                (a) promotion of education and services in these fields to all persons by  whatever means are most appropriate within their cultures;

                 (b) sponsoring and conducting educational activities relating to the objectives of the organisation;

                 (c) organising of regional and/or international workshops and conferences.

            2. To maintain and develop an inventory of all appropriate resource materials in the area of family life education, human sexuality, natural family planning and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS and to make such materials available.

            3. To obtain support for family life education and natural family planning services from the public, governments and national and international agencies by showing them the contributions they can make to the development of family life and the solving of problems in human fertility and sexuality.

            4. To stimulate and assist in the formation of family life organisations in all countries and to facilitate communication between these organizations.

            5. To sponsor, conduct and promote scientific research on various aspects of family life with special emphasis on implementing and improving natural family planning methods, their accessiblility and delivery, and to communicate the results of such research.

            6. To cooperate and work with other organisations both national and international, public and private, who share the above objectives.

FIFTH:  No part of the net earning of the organisation shall accrue to the benefit of or be distributable to its directors, officers, or other private persons, except that the organisation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the objectives set forth in Article Third.

SIXTH:  The organisation is a membership organisation.

SEVENTH: The organisation shall have no capital stock.

EIGHT:  The management of the affairs of the organisation shall be vested in a Board of Directors of not less than seven and no more than twenty one in number, to be elected as provided by the Bylaws.

NINTH:  The Board of Directors shall have the power:

            1.  To sponsor activities in pursuit of the purposes of the organisation as set forth in Article Third and to expend funds of the organisation therefor;

            2.  In addition to the foregoing powers hereinbefore or by the laws of the country in which the statutes is registered to exercise all such powers and do all such acts and things as may be exercised or done by the organisation, subject, however to the provisions of the laws of that country.

TENTH:  Upon the dissolution of the organisation, the Board of Directors shall, after paying or making provision for the payment of all the liability of the organisation, transfer its assets to a organisation which purposes are analogous to those for which the Africa Family Life Federation was formed, under the laws of the country where it is registered.
